Leo is teaching me to play the 5 string banjo. I would highly recommend Leo as a teacher. His knowledge of the different styles of playing is extensive and he will teach the style that the student chooses. Leo's demonstrations of the techniques that are needed in order to play well are clear so progress is good.He backs up the practical side of playing with the theory that is needed to really understand the music that is being learnt.
I took my Les Paul Custom to Leo for a 'simple', but crucial fix - a loose, bottom strap button, that had Schallers fitted already. Rather than "stick in a match-stick or a toothpick depending on the gap" as some very well known, high-end guitar shops had suggested to me, Leo glued in a new strip of mahogany that completely filled the strap button hole, before re-drilling into the new piece of mahogany; putting bees wax along the screw before screwing it back in too! A first class job and not the bodge suggested by some well known guitar retailers in the E Anglia region - all for 10! I will definitely take any of my guitars back to Leo for any other work needed in the future and couldn't recommend him highly enough for anyone who wants a professional job doing for their guitar maintenance.I took the same guitar back to Leo a couple of weeks later for a better set-up - again, a 'simple' but not so 'simple' job! Essentially, the bridge posts were screwed too far into the body, so that the strings rested on the back of the bridge as they came out of the stop-bar tailpiece. Leo had to carefully measure (to the millimetre!) the depth that the bridge posts needed to be screwed into the body, as well as raise the stop-bar, allowing the strings to 'ring' properly. An exceptional job and craftsmanship again by Leo, that you won't find through any high street guitar shop. I have another Les Paul that needs the 'Leo treatment' that I'll be taking over very soon!!

I found Leo while searching for a 'guitar tech' in the area to fix some poor wiring in my Telecaster resulting from a previous experiment.Leo completely resolved the wiring into a much more robust and playable configuration that sounded better when amplified and reduced background hum/squealing issues.He also offered a general setup (recut nut, frets etc.) which left the guitar playing better than it has ever done. He was even open to helping me fine tune the setup to my preference after.Leo is extremely passionate about music and instruments, you can't help but take on some useful information while you're there - this was a welcome added bonus for someone returning to guitar/music like me.
I had fallen out of love with my Strat and the more I tinkered with it, the worse it sounded. Strats have a specific sweet spot for the pick ups and I had lost mine. Leo worked his magic in short order, identifying a previously missed (by me) neck issue. He fixed that, re-fretted it, and set it up like a dream. The six pound pit bull came roaring back to life. I am absolutely delighted with the quality of his work. 100% recommended. Oh, and he is a top bloke too, who charges very reasonable rates.
